FAQs

Why should you provide online giving on your website?
Some of your people want online giving because doing things online is their mode of operation and it will increase giving. Online giving encourages consistent giving plus it is more cost effective for your organization then the payroll to employ a person to do the time consuming task of processing checks.

Does Higher Giving provide recurring giving?
Yes! Each contributor can choose to give weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Of course, anyone can give one-time as well.

Will Higher Giving work on any website?
Yes! You can use Higher Giving with a content management system website or a traditional website.

How does Higher Giving work with merchant accounts?
Higher Giving provides a simple way for you to plug in your merchant account. If you do not have a merchant account, you can get one anywhere you wish as long as it supports PayPalPro, Authorize.Net, Nova/Elevon, or Concord internet gateway interfaces. We also recommend a few options.

Is Higher Giving safe and secure?
Yes! Higher Giving uses the same security as banks and the military (128 bit SSL encryption). If your website does not have SSL then a visitor's browser will not show your website as being secure; however, the Higher Giving component of your website is completely secure. Even though Higher Giving is already secure, if you want a visitor's browser to show your website as being secure (some browsers show an image of a lock), you can install SSL on your website.

Are there other fees like statement fees and transaction fees?
There is only 1 fee for the Higher Giving tools: $10 a month. The credit card processing fees are based on your agreement with your merchant account provider.

Is there a long-term contract?
No!
You
can cancel at any time and any donations given before you cancelled will be deposited into your bank account.

How does the 30-day FREE Trial work?
For 30 days you have complete access to the full version. If you cancel your account within 30 days of signing up, you will not be charged anything. If you continue the account, billing will begin after the 30-Day free trial is over.

When are the gifts deposited into your bank account?
The funds are deposited according to the terms you have with your merchant account provider (usually daily).

How many websites can you setup Higher Giving on?
You select a web address/domain name (i.e. www.yourorganization.org) for which Higher Giving is to be licensed. You may setup Higher Giving on as many pages at that web address as you want.

What credit cards does Higher Giving accept?
Your merchant account determines the credit/debit cards that are accepted. Typically Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are all accepted as well as many debit cards.

Will Higher Giving accept e-checks?
This feature has been requested by users and is being explored to see how much is involved in adding this feature; however, the current release of Higher Giving does not accept e-checks.

Is there a limit to the number of categories/designations that can be setup and a giver can donate to?
No! You can setup as many categories/designations (i.e building fund, missions, outreach) as you want. Also, each contributor can split their gift into as many categories/designations as they wish.

Can people give as little or as much as they want?
Donations must be a minmum of $5.00 and there are no limitations on the maximum amount.

How long does it take to setup on your website?
It only takes a few minutes to signup and get the snippet of code. The amount of time to create a page on your website and drop in the snippet of code depends on how fast you can make that happen on your website. If you use a content management system then you should be able to do this in a few minutes. If you use a traditional website, then this will depend on whether you know how to do it or whether you have to get someone else to do it, and when they are available. If you do not have a merchant account, the amount of time it takes to get a merchant account depends on the merchant account provider you select (anywhere from a few days to a few weeks). If you need help getting a merchant account, we will connect you with a person who will walk you through it.

How do you get support?
Support is community based. If you have a question, you post it on the Higher Giving forum and other Higher Giving users as well as Higher Giving forum monitors respond with an answer. When another Higher Giving user posts a question, if you know the answer, you can help them.
